ELC UK invests in new Isuzu 13.5 tonners
West Midlands-based ELC UK has strengthened its delivery fleet with the addition of two new 13.5 tonne Isuzu F135.240 trucks with insulated box bodies from local dealer Aquila Truck Centres, investing in increased payload capacity to support the continued growth of the business.
The temperature-controlled distribution specialist already operates six 7.5-tonne Isuzu trucks and a single 13.5-tonner, as part of a 29-strong mixed commercial fleet. The two new vehicles are additions to its operation and were selected to further improve the efficiency of the company’s multi-drop deliveries across central and southern England and Wales.
Mohammed Alleyassin, Owner of ELC UK, says: “We originally chose Isuzu because the lightweight 7.5-tonne chassis offered such excellent payload capacity. As the business has grown, moving to the 13.5-tonne model was the natural next step as it shares many of the same traits.
“After seeing how well our first one performed, these two new 13.5-tonners will help to carry more stock and make fewer trips, further streamlining our delivery operation. It’s fair to say, once we started working with Isuzu, we knew we would never go back to other vehicles. The brand has proven itself to be dependable, efficient, and well-suited to our business.”
Working closely with the team at ELC UK, Aquila Truck Centres helped to manage the design process, bodywork selection and installation, with LE Jackson Coachworks selected to fit the insulated box bodies and GAH direct drive refrigeration units that support both chilled and frozen deliveries.
Alleyassin adds: “The support we’ve received from Garry Jones and the team at Aquila Truck Centres has been fantastic. When we started looking at the larger Isuzu vehicles, they took the time to understand our requirements, making sure we got the specification spot-on.”
On the road five days per week and expected to cover more than 100,000 miles annually, the new vehicles will remain in service for at least five years. To support this, ELC UK opted for Isuzu Truck UK’s three-year Repair and Maintenance contract for added peace of mind. The additional cover builds on the manufacturer’s standard three-year unlimited mileage warranty, with all servicing and maintenance to be completed at Aquila Truck Centres.
Founded in 1987, ELC UK offers a variety of ambient, chilled and frozen foods to restaurants, wholesalers and cash-and-carry operators across the UK, supported by its own nationwide temperature-controlled distribution network, from its base in Shenstone, Staffordshire.
