Ferndown Commercials was started in 1988 by Ian Flay who operated a mobile service. By 1994 his business had expanded and Ferndown Commercials moved into a unit on the Gundry Moor Industrial Estate, and began employing additional staff.

Ferndown Commercials rapidly outgrew the 1200 square feet at Gundry Moor and, in 1997, moved onto the Woolsbridge Industrial Estate into a unit more than double the size. In that same year Ferndown Commercials became agents for Isuzu trucks.

Ferndown Commercials was first awarded the Isuzu Truck Agent of the Year in 1999. The company has since gone on to win that accolade, encompassing the greatest number of sales across the country, in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003, as well as numerous awards each year for Servicing, Parts, and Customer Care.

In 2002 Isuzu Truck UK introduced the Samurai award for sales, customer care and general excellence across its agent network. Ferndown Commercials has achieved this accolade in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

In November 2002 Ferndown Commercials became Ferndown Commercials Ltd. and introduced a new, streamlined computer system to optimize efficiency for servicing and repair of vehicles.

Ferndown Commercials recent move to the Ferndown Industrial Estate sees the company occupying a 7000+ square foot unit with highly equipped workshop and modern office facilities.
